RAF Carsaig
Chain Home Low
This site was only open from late 1941 until the Autumn of 1942. There are vague remains of a some bases of buildings in the grounds of Inniemore Lodge and two buildings on the road just outside the gate. One was said to be a "petrol store". A short distance down the road there is a house called "The Power House", this appears to be a conversion of the original power house for the site.
I was also told that there had been some other buildings further up the hill. There is a track running South West off the main road at NN5323722971. At the end of this track there are at least concrete bases - one 30 ft x 18 ft (NN5311622661) and the other 12 ft x 10 ft (NN5308422625) - very approximate as just paced out. These are near a stone enclosure for sheep and a corrugated iron building. The track is partly made of brick so perhaps the brickwork from the buildings was used.
