RAF Port Mor

Comment from Ian Brown, Historic Radar Archive

I've been having another look at your website, and noticed the photos listed as an unidentified site on the Kilkenneth page. These in fact are the remains of RAF Port Mor, an Advance CH site which closed down when Kilkenneth went on the air. I didn't realise there were any remains there, so it's very interesting indeed to see these images. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of the station, although I do have a few taken in 1941 in the tented accommodation site. Anyway, I hope this helps clear up this site for you.

The main 'object' appears to be part of the cable run at the bottom of one of the masts; I've certainly seen similar structures at other CH stations.

It has been confirmed by the farmer that this structure is the remains of a sheep fank!  Pictures of the remains of the actual ACH will follow
